‘With the new day comes new strengths and new thoughts.’ A beaming countenance will create infinite energy, vitality and zest which in turn maintains the enthusiasm and zeal in all our activities. Negative remarks about performance of others bars positivity from reaching them. When at work, many times we take pride in our acumen, prowess and knowledge bank. It will hold good, only if we are capable of passing on all that we know and have acquired all these years to the next generation.

            Once, my Principal called all the faculty members together to assess the recently concluded examinations. While discussing he remarked about the necessity of bringing even the least scoring child at par with the others so that he too is able to pass through the board exams. In conclusion he said, ‘can’t you all give me at least this much?’ That’s when there was a change in the direction of thought and our efforts paved way for great results the following year.

             When electric current flows through the filament of a bulb, it heats the filament to a temperature of 3000c causing the filament to glow and provide light. Similarly, the amount of energy that we put in gives others a confidence to achieve their goals. Can a bright light focus on itself? Light has no meaning unless there is something to illuminate. Our specialized knowledge will help others to carve out a path for themselves and reach great heights.

            In addition to emitting, all substances are capable of absorbing radiation. Thus although an ice cube is continuously emitting radiant energy, it will melt if an incandescent lamp is focused on it because it will be absorbing greater amount of heat than it is emitting. A moment when all is safe and sound may never arrive. Sir Winston Churchill said, ‘we make a living by what we get; but we make a life by what we give.’
